You're absolutely right. I myself always admit to that when speaking to non-muslims and the reaction I get from them is one of relief, satisfaction and even respect which inevitably leads to less fear and less aprehension, as they see for themselves that there are muslims who are responsible, rational and honest and who do a lot of introspection and self-criticism instead of constantly victimizing themselves.

The status of the dhimmi(non-Muslims) is not so much one of oppression as it is one of separation. Now are states populated by mostly Muslims typically hypocritical? Yes, but that does not mean they have Islamic government. If you read something on ahl-dhimmi then it becomes plain that it is simply a separation for the most part. Are some rights restricted? Yes. Are some extra rights granted? Yes. Islamic states and states run by Muslims are not the same things.

True teachings of Islam call for peace, humility, justice, and equality. Although it is possible that Muslims in the past and present commited wrong and are guilty of injustices, it is important to note that the actions of certian people are not neccesarily associated with the religion they follow. Muslims are not perfect, no one is, but ISLAM (if followed and understood correctly) as a religion is indeed PERFECT...

Bismillah, Its so intresting when he started with the story, when a certain person or people follow the way of the Allah there is always peace and no chance of discrimination. likewise if people are ignonant,or arrogant of course there is a chance of discrimination. We always have to remember that not to look at the muslims rather the teachings of Allah.
