How refreshing to listen to a competent leader give a competent speech! No smirking? No winking? No stumbling? No bumbling? I'd almost forgotten what it was like.

Yeah, it is a great speech and they seem to finally have a grasp of how to escape the numerous ways in which W. Europe and the US have been undercutting them. Unfortunately all the talk about individual freedom and property rights is a lie. They have no respect for free markets or property rights. Don't believe for a second that their government isn't far more corrupt than the West. They are weak because they are corrupt.

wrong, this speech (at least this part) is largely bullshit, the actions (till now) are mostly opposite of what he says.
"strengthen democratic institutions", bla, these are almost completely suppressed over the last 8 years.
"political freedom", lol, better be quiet.
burocratic apparatus has been growing like a cancer tumour over the last years.
corruption - although its the central topic for Medvedev, all he proposes is create yet another commission of burocrats.
right words - no actions.

i wish this whole speech was on youtube it was great.straight talk no bullshit, like you see in america.they are being surrounded by the eu and u.s...

Wow, those last words you will not hear in America. It is easy to see how we have lost our way. Russia becomes more like America, and America well, the government now owns mortages (land), banks, and the people (fisa, patriot act, etc..).
