It's true the movie was made 30 years ago, but the thing about the fight scene was that you have to understand that the point of the battle is not about performing amazing acrobatics and putting on a good show for the audience, it's about killing each other. Light sabers burn through you instantly, so all you need to accomplish is contact. That doesn't require acrobatics. As far as the disappearing thing is concerned, well, that wouldv'e required too much money to make that scene look realistic.

i can't believe people are saying that this movie hasn't aged well. I really believe that the older sets, and that aged look on the film gives the first Star Wars trilogy that unique 70s/80s sci-fi feel that new movies don't have anymore. You cannot beat the drama of these older duels, the older, chunkier special effects made the movies seem theatrical adding to the whole idea of a space myth/odyssey/soap that the newer movies try to emulate but become incongruous with newer Sfx cooler duels.

This movie was made 30 years ago, and on a small budget even for that time. Still, it hasn't really aged very well in my opinion.

i gotta say, even though it was made over 30 years ago the fight looks fake as hell. Qui-Gon Jinn + Obi Wan VS Darth Maul looked real. and it was a hell of a fight!!
